Model Taut

Six-panel

Bruno Taut was a German architect and urban planner who had a major influence on architecture. Taut was a strong advocate of the so-called Existenzminimum; he believed that a person’s living environment should enrich life. With four of his housing estates now part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, he served as a source of inspiration for countless architects. His style was characterised by strongly profiled façades, which created a ‘block-like’ effect. This inspired us to name our six-panel door after him.

A vision based on harmony

Taut believed in the power of colour and focused on harmony. He valued individuality and freedom. At the same time, he was truly a man of the people. His architecture served its inhabitants. He designed brightly coloured working-class and urban neighbourhoods, including in Magdeburg, Germany. Glass and crystal were of great importance in Taut’s designs. The colourful Rainbow District in Almere is a tribute to his work.

Application of the Taut steel door

Taut’s vision of harmony is reflected in the steel doors we installed at the Van der Valk hotel in Enschede. In the hotel bar—where guests gather to enjoy food and drinks—we placed a steel façade with pivot door. The result is a stunning and elegant bar we’re very proud of.

We also installed several steel doors in the renovated restaurant at De Hof in Renswoude, creating a beautiful space where warmth, ambience, and class come together. Another hallmark of Bruno Taut was his love of colour. The steel doors we placed in Rhenen align perfectly with this passion, featuring dark leather, a bronze coating, and bronze glass.
