Steel doors bring new life to Fabriek Chemnitz
Where machines once dictated the rhythm of work, a new creative energy now flows. Fabriek Chemnitz in Germany is a striking transformation project that breathes new life into industrial heritage. This iconic location offers space for creativity, work, and relaxation – with respect for the past and a fresh outlook on modern design. This extraordinary building features 223 steel elements, installed by our German partner Akzent Lofttüren.
A new purpose for a historic icon
Fabriek Chemnitz spans 9,500 square metres and houses a mix of functions, including offices, workspaces, and event venues. A sports field, basketball court, and gym encourage physical activity, while the rooftop bar, bakery, and bistro create a welcoming atmosphere. Across the site, we installed steel elements, including 46 steel doors and 130 fixed panels.
Steel doors that tell a story
A wide variety of models were used, including Rietveld, Rohe, Dudok, and Kramer. Cement Grey with a touch of green and deep dark grey set the tone for a stylish interior that contrasts with the raw charm of brick walls. The result? A harmonious balance between robustness and refinement that honours the unique history of the factory.
