Steel doors in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid
In the beloved Oud-Zuid district of Amsterdam, we installed steel doors in an impressive five-storey, 120-year-old home. Fully stripped and renovated into a luxurious modern residence, it now features several steel doors and façades with a mix of Horta and Mendelsohn layouts. Interior Studio van Maanen curated the interior. Photography by Jurrit van der Waal for The Art of Living.
Steel doors in the basement: floods of light
Basements are often thought of as dark and closed-in, but not here. Clever use of natural light makes the basement an inviting living area. Large windows and steel doors let light pour in, creating a bright and pleasant atmosphere. The basement was transformed into a wellness space with a sauna and gym. We installed a steel façade with a pivot door and additional doors by the wine cellar.
The elegant kitchen, with a stylish bar and nearby fireplace, was designed with a smart lighting plan. Light enters from both the front and rear of the home. We placed double pivot doors with a Horta layout here, creating a grand entrance that warmly welcomes both residents and guests.
