Light Grey steel sliding doors create a workspace
This typical 1930s house was already perfectly finished. However, it lacked a workspace where the three teenage daughters could retreat to, for instance, do their homework. Mies Interieur took on the challenge. The result is a workspace separated by our steel sliding door and a fixed panel. What makes these steel doors unique is the light grey colour. A secluded workspace with
Rietveld steel door
The workspace in this stylish home can be enclosed using the light grey sliding door. The elegant Rietveld panel layout and the recessed grip were chosen. The guiding principle in choosing the steel door was to preserve natural light and a spatial feeling. “A glass partition with one fixed and one sliding panel was the perfect solution,” says Mies van der Lely. “In this home, black was used sparingly, and I wanted to keep the look light. That’s why I chose to have the steel door and the fixed panel finished in a warm light grey colour. This keeps the overall look calm and bright.”
Collaboration between De Rooy and Mies Interieur
We collaborate on several projects with Mies Interieur. For example, Mies also designed the interior of a luxury home with many dark accents, where we installed both steel pivot doors and sliding doors. In this design, black was a prominent feature of the overall concept. Liveable, warm, and powerful.
Mies is very enthusiastic about the collaboration with De Rooy. “My collaboration with De Rooy truly adds value for the client. I may come up with the idea to use these doors with glass and steel in my design, and I can visualise it in presentations or 3D renderings, but that’s not enough. The client still doesn’t have a feel for it. On my advice, clients always visit the large showroom at De Rooy.”
“De Rooy has so much on display in their showroom in Veenendaal and they share all their knowledge and experience with the client. That’s incredibly helpful. Clients can then experience for themselves how easy the doors are to use. They also see the materials, the quality, and the possibilities in real life. That speaks to them more than my 3D drawings or images. I often have a final discussion with the client about a specific colour, handle, or panel layout. That way, the decision is truly well-considered – and that’s what matters. If the client is completely happy with the choices made in the end, then and only then am I satisfied!”
