Steel doors with round, organic shapes are perhaps the trend of 2024. These beautiful doors fit seamlessly into both sleek and modern interiors. We have incorporated curved shapes into steel doors in various ways, for example by using circles in the door design, rounded handles, and doors with curved tops.

Circles in

One way to introduce a curved shape into a steel door is by choosing circles. This can be done in various ways. A stunning example of a complete circle can be seen in this project in Tilburg. Here, a combination of straight and curved shapes creates an interesting interplay of lines.

Half circles

Besides full circles, half circles are increasingly seen in projects. One example is found in this home in Lunteren. Uniquely, the design visually continues into a round mirror. Beautiful Canale Glass was chosen here, making the door even more fascinating to look at.

A second example of half circles can be found in this home in Kruiningen. Here, two doors each feature a half circle, forming a complete round shape when the doors are closed. Unique round steel pivot door with ribbed glass in a stylish modern interior.

Model Paxton with curved shapes

A slightly more subtle curved shape can be found in our model Paxton. This model consists of three equal panels, with the top panel divided by a quarter circle. Model Paxton is usually chosen as a double steel door, creating a grand entrance. You can see this beautifully in this beach club in Noordwijk and in this stunning home in Huizen.

Curved shapes
in the handle

You can also incorporate curved shapes into the handle. This can be seen, for example, in the steel door models by Osiris Hertman. Osiris enjoys working with natural, organic forms, and the model Rituals is perhaps the clearest example. The round handle in the Mallet model is also a design by Osiris.

Curved shapes in fixed panels

It is also possible to fit steel doors with curved panels, such as in the Inspiration Studio of Max View. In this inspiring space, we installed several steel doors, including a striking Rohe steel door flanked by two curved steel panels.

rounded doorway

A final example we would like to show you is this project in Loosdrecht. Here, we placed steel doors in a rounded doorway. Our steel doors follow the lines of the wall. The shape of these doors is reminiscent of the arched doors often seen in historical churches. The steel doors fit perfectly with the classic interior, the stone flooring, and the authentic details of the staircase. Another beautiful example of the versatility of steel. It resembles an arched door.

From straight steel profiles to curved shapes

There are several ways to create curved shapes. One method is to ‘attach’ a curved profile onto the glass. However, we do not choose this approach, as it detracts from the sense of quality. Instead, we have developed a method in which the straight steel profiles are carefully bent, and the glass is set within the profile. The glass panels thus follow the lines of the steel, lying within the curved shape. You can see an example of this in the adjacent photo.
