Steel doors model Balance in villa in Bilthoven

The detached villa exudes comfort: warm wood tones, rich fabrics, art on the walls and abundant greenery. The residents sought doors that would not interrupt this atmosphere but enhance it instead. The Balance doors complement the soft shapes of the furniture and the rounded architecture. They separate spaces where needed, yet allow light, views and warmth to flow freely, creating unity throughout the home.

For this detached villa, interior designer Linda Lagrand created a layered interior in which her characteristic vision takes centre stage. “For us, it’s always about colour, tranquillity and nature,” she explains. “The balance between forms and materials that we want to bring into people’s homes is also reflected in the door.” The design was named Balance: “an ode to asymmetrical harmony”, a play of circles slightly off‑centre yet perfectly poised. In De Rooy she found a partner who translates this vision into a technically impeccable design.

De Rooy realised several steel pivot doors and slender steel panels with an integrated hinged door. The doors are made in the slim profile DRM‑P10 Rank with design Coating 50912, combined with laminated safety glass and bronze‑coloured hardened glass. In collaboration with FritsJurgens, the pivot mechanism with soft close was integrated for a smooth, serene movement. About the collaboration Lagrand says: “What I most appreciate about De Rooy is their craftsmanship. They translate my design into perfection down to the smallest detail. Every line, every weld and every finish is spot‑on.”
