FritsJurgens’ secret for steel pivot doors

For our steel pivot doors, we use hinges from FritsJurgens. Their goal is simple: to design and produce the perfect hinge for the perfect door — the pivot door. In the past two years alone, they’ve won five awards. But what makes FritsJurgens’ hinge so special? What’s their secret?

Appearance
and installation

Traditional pivot hinges are installed in the floor. In contrast, FritsJurgens’ hinge is built into the door itself. This brings several advantages. First of all, its appearance. Older systems required a floor box, which was clearly visible. With the FritsJurgens system, only a small round plate is needed — one in the floor and one in the ceiling. Barely noticeable.

Advantages of
pivot doors

FritsJurgens’ hinge can open and close a million times — the equivalent of 136 years of intensive use.

In terms of installation, the pivot system also has many advantages. Because we install the hinges in the door, we save significantly on installation time and costs. Another advantage is that these pivot hinges can easily be used in existing buildings. And because the floor plate is mounted just 8 mm deep, the pivot doors are also ideal for use with underfloor heating.

Patented
spring mechanism

Pivot hinges rotate in both directions. Whether you push or pull, the door swings open either way. FritsJurgens offers several versions. For example, a hinge mounted in the middle with a 360º rotation, or one placed near the wall with a 180º rotation. Thanks to their patented spring mechanism, the door can also swing into a desired position and remain there.

In 2015, FritsJurgens won the German Design Awards, and in the following years they received the Archiproducts Design Awards, Iconic Awards, and Architizer A+ Awards, followed again by the German Design Awards in 2017.

FritsJurgens’ innovative pivot hinges are maintenance-free — not just on paper, but in practice: tested for one million open and close cycles. Because the system is fully enclosed, dirt and water cannot enter. That is quality. And this pursuit of perfection aligns perfectly with our own commitment to quality.

Craftsmanship
in steel

De Rooy steel doors are the result of 30 years of craftsmanship, rooted in the legacy of Gerrit de Rooy. His attention to detail and quality was passed on to his son Marein. Steel craftsmanship combined with the hidden perfection of FritsJurgens — that’s the secret behind the quality of our steel pivot doors.
