Maintenance tips for steel doors
Steel doors require little maintenance, but it is important to use the right cloths and products to keep your doors clean. In this article, we share tips for maintaining your steel doors.
Removing dust and dirt
Before using a glass cleaner, we recommend first removing dust and dirt from the surfaces. Always do this with a soft, dry cloth. Once the door is free of dust and dirt, you can clean it with a glass cleaner. It is advisable to regularly dust the steel frame.
Use a glass cleaner
For cleaning your steel doors and the glass, use a dry cloth and a glass cleaner. Spray the glass cleaner onto your cloth and then clean the glass and the door. After cleaning, wipe the doors and glass dry with a soft, dry cloth to prevent streaks. Never spray glass cleaner directly onto the steel door or glass to avoid streaks or discolouration.
Use dry cloths
Always use soft, dry cloths, such as microfibre cloths, to clean your steel doors. Never use other (hard) cloths or sponges, as these can cause scratches.
Do not make the doors too wet
Ensure that the surfaces of the steel doors do not become damp, for example by using an excessively wet sponge or cloth. If you use a cloth that is too wet, water may seep between the steel and the glass. This can eventually cause rust to develop.
No (abrasive) cleaning agents
Never use abrasive agents or other cleaning products to clean your steel doors. These are not suitable for cleaning the surfaces of a steel door, whether glass or steel frames. They can cause scratches.
