Special doors at Van der Valk hotel
We’re proud of every project we complete, but some projects are just that little bit more special. One such project is the Van der Valk hotel in Enschede. During the construction of the hotel last year, we were asked to install steel doors in the hotel bar — a project we carried out with great enthusiasm. And the result is something to be proud of!
An open
character
“We wanted doors that matched the look and feel of our hotel,” says Hedwig van der Valk, who runs the Van der Valk hotel in Enschede with her husband Paul. “We aimed for a warm, contemporary atmosphere in the hotel. We also incorporated historical elements throughout, referencing Enschede’s textile heritage.”
Dark and calm tones were used in the hotel bar, creating a luxurious feel. “Steel doors perfectly match the ambiance of our hotel. These doors allow plenty of light in and have a beautiful open character. The lines of the doors are also stunning.”

Pivot and
hinged doors
Hedwig first visited our showroom to select the perfect doors. She and her team chose the panel layout and door types together. Both pivot and hinged doors were installed in the hotel bar. Bespoke 6-panel doors were chosen — a variation of our Taut doors. The doors feature slim DRM-P10 profiles for a refined finish. The pivot doors are fitted with a pull handle and the hinged doors with Piet Boon handles. The doors are coated with a fine texture powder coating (RAL 9004), ensuring they require minimal maintenance — ideal for a hotel setting.

Van der Valk is not only pleased with the end result but also highly satisfied with the collaboration. “They are true craftsmen with a passion for their trade. The steel doors from De Rooy are artisanal and have a modern feel,” says Paul van der Valk.
